What is the difference between the smooth top and honeycomb top rubber stable mats?
Both our smooth-top and honeycomb-top mats are made with the same re-vulcanized process, offer the same benefits, and are installed the same way. The primary difference is how something sits or stands on top, making the smooth top ideal for gyms and fitness areas.
Rubber mats for horses get dirty. How do I clean them?
Cleaning these mats is simple! Start with sweeping them often, daily if you can. This keeps big pieces cleared. From there, you can pressure wash them as needed, but make sure to squeegee off excess water.
Rubber stable mats can take steam, so rent a commercial steamer for a true deep clean. You can also spot clean with a damp mop or scrubber. Cleaning your mats keeps your horses healthy and helps your flooring last longer. Check our cleaning guide for more information!
How are these particular rubber stable mats installed?
All of our rubber mats for horses can be installed using the same basic process, outlined in our installation guide. However, when installing the Flexgard® smooth top interlocking mats, we recommend laying them out first and writing out a plan.
There are eight mat options, consisting of two sizes, with each size featuring tabs on opposite sides. This allows you to interlock them so the flooring perimeter forms a straight edge.
What is re-vulcanized rubber?
Vulcanization is the process of heating rubber with sulfur to initiate a chemical reaction that strengthens it into a stable, durable, long-lasting product.
All of our items, including rubber mats for horses, are made from 100% recycled materials. This means they go through the process again to become re-vulcanized rubber.
